0907 COMBO CHAIR AND DESK
0907 SEATS AND BACKS: Fiberglass seat and back consist of polyester reinforced with a pre-form of a chopped, continuous, silene and chrome-glass filament with a combination of a water emulsion (Tybon) binder to a specified weight of approximately 30 ounces and then cured. This glass content along with the use of two, .00010" thick mats on the top surface and one, .010 " thick mat on the bottom surface accounts for 30% of the seat and backs total weight. The remaining 70% of the total weight consists of 30% filler and 70% resin. The filler shall be A.S.P. -400-P (aluminum silicate), and the resin contact including catalyst, pigments, and mold release has the following physical properties:

The resin and filler are hand poured over the pre-form and bottom surface mat outside of the press in such a manner to minimize resin rich areas. The seat and back are then placed in a press and the two, top surface mats are added. The press is then closed and the seat and back cured for 2 ½ minutes at a temperature of 240 degrees. The above construction of the seat and back gives extra durability and strength. All seats are double contoured with full-waterfall front.
DESKTOP: High-pressure, plastic laminate bonded to 9/16" resin-core with plastic backer sheet. Edges are shaped and black lacquered to complement desktop. The writing surface is 20-½" x 26-½".
FRAME: A 1-1/8", 18-guage carbon-steel quadratic tube is shaped to form a "U" shape on which the seat is attached utilizing four, 3/16" diameter, high-tensile-steel, tubular rivets. Back is attached to a back assembly utilizing four, 3/16" diameter, high-tensile-steel, tubular rivets. This assembly is comprised of a 3/4" diameter, 16-gauge, carbon-steel tube which is hand brazed between the posts of the "U" shape and a self-lubricated, nylon sleeve under a cast-aluminum, tension plate.
It has a tamper-proof, positive stop support which provides an 8-degree self-adjustment. The desktop is mounted to a 1-1/8" 18-gauge, quadratic top support tube utilizing three, 16-gauge, die-formed, carbon-steel clips. The seat support tube is brazed to the top support tube. One, 3/8" x 5/8" rectangular, 20-gauge, carbon-steel frame support tube is brazed between top support tube and seat support tube. Black, plastic, tube closures close each end of the "U shape and top support tube and are held firmly in place with spring, steel umbrella clips. Two 1-1/8", 18-gauge, carbon-steel, quadratic tubes are used for the chair legs. Seat height totals 17-1/2".
There are two, 1-1/8", 18-gauge, carbon-steel quadratic tubes used for the desk legs. The chair legs are mig-welded to the "U" shape. Top legs are mig-welded to the top support tube. All legs are swaged to 5/8" diameter.
GLIDES: The 1-1/4" base diameter of the glides are made from special hardened steel, rubber mounted, and are fully nickel-plated.
BOOKRACK: Bookrack is 10-1/4" x 16-1/8" and is made of 5/16" steel rods with 3/16" steel, cross rods resistance welded to form an integral unit. The bookrack is sigma welded between the front and back legs and has a 9" clearance from the underside of the seat; it opens toward the side of the unit.
